I say that I am a mother of two. My daughter Lillie will be born in two weeks and counting.
My son Skyler is not legally mine yet. His case goes before the Judge again on Monday. Hopefully this time the judge wont delay terminating the sperm donors rights again. The rest of that story... Two years ago my husband and I were asked to consider adopting his cousin's little boy. She was a drug addict who was on her last chance to get clean before the state took him permanently away. He has been in state custody since the day of his birth because he was born addicted to drugs. Since we were the only family members young enough and healthy enough to even be considered for his adoption, we began to get him every Saturday and Sunday. Our first recorded visitation with him started March 23, 2007. It took a month for the state to process our paper work. His biological mother passed away that same year on my husband's birthday of a drug overdose. My husband got a son for his birthday that year. The biological father got out of prison September that year. We have been waiting for them to terminate his rights ever since. It has been a long wait. My daughter Lillie is a special gift. We found out that I was pregnant twelve hours before my Aunt Junkie passed away of cancer. It was slightly bitter sweet news. How could you be happy and so sad at the same time. However, life must go on and so does the circle of life.
